I finished!!!

The last 60 pages seemed to flow easier for me, when I look back at the whole book.

Although I must say, that whole element of Florentino's relationship with America was brutal.

I am glad that Florentino and Fermina found their love in the end... but ... such a strange novel. I guess in some ways it captures a particular time and place...about the manatees and the destruction of the river habitat.

Is this book about love, or excesses? About persistence, or passions?

I am glad that I stuck it out and finished it, it wasn't a terrible book, it was unsettling at times, at times it was good, at times I wondered how the hell I was going to finish it.
